Karate enthusiast Warren “Flick” Flickinger plans to devote the
summer/fall seasons to L&M Championship series racing. He
campaigned a Lola T300Chevy in the series last year, entering seven
of the eight events, with his best finishes ninth on three occasions.
“Flick” competed in his first race in 1969 driving a Formula B car. The
next year he placed second in the SCCA’s Midwest Division F/B point
standings, prompting a trip to Europe in 1971 to compete in Formula 2
and Formula Atlantic. His European experience, Flickinger relates, was
less than successful due to an unprepared car, and he returned to the
U.S. after three months of frustration He didn’t begin his 1971 U.S.
campaign until August but finished fourth in the Midwest Division’s
Formula B standings. In addition to the ‘72 L & M series, Flickinger
competed in SCCA National Championship road races, finishing first in
Midwest Division’s F/A points.
