Mike Brockman and Jim Levitt with a Greenwood-built Corvette have
joined the 1976 Camel GT Challenge Series. Young Jim Levitt is the
heir of pioneer building tycoon William Levitt. They reckon to be
formidable factors in the year’s competition. Brockman calls himself a
‘race car junkie’ but recently he has been sustaining himself acting and
doing television commercials in Southern California. He start-ed in a
Datsun, then moved to Corvettes and did well in club racing in the late
Sixties. He tried Formula 5000 but was sandbagged by indifferent
equipment and went to the Can-Am in a McLaren. Between races he
has continued at college, graduating last year with a BA in social
science associated and communications. He has been associated
with Jim Levitt as team manager and driver in recent years and hopes
1976 is “the one” – with the right machinery in the right league for big
success. Brockman finished a solid fourth in I the 1976 Road Atlanta
Camel GT.
