1970 is the year that Lombardi really began to make her mark. That
year she came third in Italy's Formula Ford championship and won the
Trofeo Italiano Formula 850 title behind the wheel of a Biraghi-Fiat.
The success of her 1970 season saw Lombardi make the move to
Formula 3 for 1971. She spent three years driving in F3 while also
competing in other series, eventually winning the 1973 Ford Mexico
That victory opened the door to Formula 5000 in 1974, and Lombardi
made the move to the UK. Her first season in Formula 5000 was a
success, and she finished fourth in the championship. Also during the
1974 season she raced at Riverside Calif. sponsored by "Mister Marty"
a cloths manufacture in California. She finishing a impressive 9th in a
